Redheads get their colorful tresses from the MC1R gene, and less than 2% of the population has it.

Aside from the beautiful color, redheadedness comes with several issues. It also comes with a few risks such as an increased risk of skin cancer. Most redheads have eyebrow issues. For some, their eyebrows are so light, and they’re barely visible.

Are you a redhead struggling with your eyebrows? Microblading is the answer!

How does microblading work for redheads? Read on to learn more.

How Does Microblading Work?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattoo. Instead of a scary motorized tattoo needle, there’s a thin blade that makes tiny cuts in the skin. Ink then gets deposited into these cuts.

The blade applies feathery strokes that appear hair-like. The pigment remains in the outer epidermis, unlike traditional tattooing into the deep dermis. The results are natural looking, not artificial or stenciled.

Is It Painful?

The professional applies a topical anesthetic beforehand. Most people tolerate the procedure well. However, redheads are known for low pain tolerances due to the MC1R gene. They also don’t respond to anesthetic as well.

That shouldn’t stop you from microblading if you’re a redhead. It’s not a painful procedure. However, it might sting or feel like someone’s pinching you.

Should a Redhead Microblade?

Microblading is fine for redheads. However, make sure the microblading artist has experience. Color is crucial. Natural eyebrows aren’t an exact match of your hair color.

If your hair is bright red, go with a warm brown with hints of red. Pay attention! If the artist pulls out bright-red for your brows, they’re not experienced with redheads.

If you’re concerned about microblading because you have almost no eyebrow hair, don’t worry. Whether you have a lot or a little, microblading is individualized. The artist enhances what you have.

Will It Last?

Microblading is like tattooing, but the results are not as permanent. Your eyebrows fade over time. Most treatments last from a year to 24 months. Once-per-year treatments help with maintenance.

Following post-procedure instructions makes the treatment last longer too. Avoid scrubbing and exfoliation in the area during healing which takes about ten days. Keep the area around your eyebrows well moisturized.

Don’t swim, use makeup, or work out for a week to 10 days after the treatment. Working out opens your pores, and this causes color fading.

Do Your Homework

Beware of bargains. If a price seems too good to be true, it is. This is your face. Knowledge and experience are more critical than a bargain. Make sure the artist has plenty of experience with redheads.

A Great Eyebrow Option

You asked yourself, “How does microblading work?” Now you know! Microblading is an excellent option for anyone looking for better brows. If your eyebrows are thin or nonexistent, you’ll love the results.

Even if all you want is a better-shaped brow, microblading is a great option. It’s semi-permanent, so the commitment isn’t forever. If you change your mind about the shape, the artist can change it during maintenance.
