There are several different ways to achieve the ideal eyebrow look. Some methods, such as waxing and tweezing, can be insufficient and short-term.

That’s why the latest trend of eyebrow microblading is gaining momentum everywhere. Good microblading can help you attain beautiful, well-shaped brows.

Since the process is semi-permanent, there are a few things you need to know about how to make the most of the process.

Here’s your guide to getting the best microblading results.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a makeup technique that involves inserting pigment into the skin to shape the eyebrows. This trend is growing in popularity for its ability to give you fuller, thicker brows. Unlike eyebrow tattoos, microblading is only semi-permanent and creates a more natural, fluffy look.

Your microblading artist uses an ink application and a handheld microblade to create hair strokes and fill in your arches. Any given microblading effects can last from 12 to 24 months.

There are certain ways to prepare and care for your brows before and after microblading.

Before

Preparation is vital for a microblading procedure. You will want your eyebrow area to be healthy and robust before your appointment to ensure great results. There a few ways to make this happen.

The main thing to remember is not to tweeze, wax, or tend to your brows at least a week before microblading. Similarly, tanning and getting facials are not recommended leading up to your appointment.

Avoid exercising the day of your procedure so that there is no stress or irritation to the skin.

No prep may lead to excess bleeding or poor color deposit. That’s why it’s important to avoid drinking alcohol 48 hours before your appointment. Try to avoid pain relief medication such as ibuprofen which is a natural blood thinner.

After

After microblading, try to wash your eyebrow area daily gently. This is especially important in the first week. Using a light cleanser and pat-drying will not remove any pigment.

Avoid picking at your eyebrows and face to maintain the microblade color. Don’t go tanning or receive any botox treatment for at least four weeks.

Heat may also have a negative impact on the treated area. That’s why it’s important not to take hot showers, or do rigorous workouts that will cause you to sweat a lot. Swimming is another activity to avoid after a microblading procedure.

In general, steer clear of anything that may affect or irritate the skin around your brows. This includes applying heavy topical makeup and sunscreen.

More on Microblading Results

You’ll need a touch-up appointment four to six weeks after your procedure. These sessions involve color correction and any necessary additions. The touch-up appointment will ensure your brows have the best possible shape and pigmentation.
